Balanced Nutrition is now accepting Independence Blue Cross, Blue Cross Blue Shield, AmeriHealth, United Health Care, Cigna and Aetna health plans. Many plans provide nutrition counseling benefits to members. When calling to schedule your first appointment, don’t forget to ask how you can get your nutrition services covered!
Individual Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) and nutrition counseling includes one-on-one assessment and diagnosis done by a Registered Dietitian. The dietitian will identify specific needs, create unique and tailored meal plans to meet those needs, and set individual goals for each client. Follow up appointments will provide continued monitoring and evaluation of interventions to provide ongoing support.
Group Lecture Seminars provide nutrition education and support to groups with topics that include Nutrition Myths, Diet Fads, The Macros (Protein, Starch, Fat), Goal Setting for Athletes, and many others. Classes can be developed or tailored to meet the needs of any small group and can be provided in-office or off-site.
Supermarket tours are available for individuals or small groups. These tours are designed to educate clients on efficient and effective grocery shopping strategies to promote healthy food choices, optimize food budget, and explore first-hand the wide variety of food options available in supermarkets.
Corporate Wellness Nutrition Programs are available for organizations who are working to improve the health of their employees. These programs are tailored to meet the specific needs of the organization and vary in length and duration.
The mission of balanced nutrition is to provide honest and reliable nutrition counseling to clients in a relaxed environment without judgement or bias. Our goal is to make wellness achievable by providing services that do not intimidate or over-complicate nutrition. It is our mission to serve each client individually and wholly, evaluating closely his or her specific needs and customizing interventions to meet those needs and improve overall health and wellness.
In order to best serve clients, we ask for courtesy in scheduling and payment and value the relationship between dietitian and client. Please review the following cancellation and payment policy.
- Missed appointments with no notice will result in a charge of 100% of session fee. Appointments cancelled or rescheduled less than 24 hours before appointment time will be charged 50% of the session fee. Appointments can be rescheduled by calling Balanced Nutrition at 610-715-4685 or emailing firstname.lastname@example.org. Emergency situations are exempt from this policy at the clinician’s discretion.
- Payment is due at time of session or as agreed upon with clinician. Balanced Nutrition participates with some insurance companies; however, whatever they don’t cover or if we are not in network with is the client’s responsibility. Acceptable forms of payment include all major credit cards, cash and check. Client will be issued a $30 fee for any returned check. Service receipts can be provided upon request for client submission to insurance. Please contact clinician if payment for service is burdensome and at clinicians discretion a payment plan may be arranged.
Balanced Nutrition LLC and all of it’s Registered Dietitians are not physicians, psychiatrists or psychologists and the scope of the nutrition services provided does not include treatment or diagnosis of any illnesses or disorders. If you, the client, suspect you may have an ailment or illness that may require medical attention, then you are encouraged to consult with a licensed physician without delay. Only a licensed physician can prescribe drugs. Any mention of medications in the course of nutrition therapy is only for the purpose of providing a complete history of drugs that the client is taking and not for your dietitian to judge the appropriateness of the medication. Any change in prescription or dosage is a decision the client makes with his or her physician.
If you suffer from a medical or pathological condition, you will need to consult your appropriate healthcare provider. Your dietitian is not a substitute for your family physician or specialist and nutrition therapy is not to be used in lieu of medical needs. We are not licensed to diagnose or treat pathological conditions, illnesses injuries, or diseases.
If you are under the care of a physician, it is important to contact them and let them know you are under the care of a registered dietitian and make them aware of any dietary changes you are making including the addition of nutritional supplements. Medical Nutritional Therapy may be a beneficial adjunct to medical care, and it may also alter your need for medication, so it is important that you always keep your physician informed of changes in your nutritional program.
If you are using medications of any kind, you are required to alert your dietitian to such use, as well as to discuss any potential interactions between medications and nutritional products with your pharmacist.
During your initial assessment at Balanced Nutrition, you will be asked to provide written acknowledgement that you understand that your clinician at Balanced Nutrition is a Registered and Licensed Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN, LDN) not a physician, and that you should see a doctor if you think you have any medical condition. Balanced Nutrition LLC and any of it’s licensed clinicians will not be held liable for failure to diagnose or treat an illness, nor will they be liable for failure to prevent future illness.
Additionally, you promise to give Balanced Nutrition LLC a complete and accurate account of any medical conditions that you may have and any medications that you are taking.
